Pupils’ Creative Art on Show
Children’s creative talents are on display at a special art exhibition at Newington Community Primary School in Ramsgate.
During a two-week long run, the show will feature colourful, imaginative and thought-provoking contributions from all age groups.
It is being run in collaboration with the Margate Rotary Club annual young artists’ art exhibition to be held at Westwood Cross shopping centre in May with the theme of ‘Our Changing World and the Future’.
Teacher Suzanne Legge is co-ordinating the Newington art show. She explained: “Each year group took part in a creative day and researched different aspects of how our world has changed, either historically or environmentally.
“They also studied a particular artist style or artist skill and used this to inspire their own creations.”
Artists studied included Salvador Dali, Picasso, David Hockney and Andy Warhol, and included oils, watercolours, pastels, pen and ink, and collage.
Head Teacher Cliff Stokes said: “The sheer variety of style, colour and technique that our pupils have come prepared for this exhibition is very impressive. It is clear that a lot of work has gone into their individual contributions, and as a whole the exhibition is a fascinating insight into how we encourage our pupils to explore art and all its forms.”
The children’s work will also include QR codes that pupils have prepared in their computing lessons, providing reflections of their work or specific information about the artist. (A QR code is a Quick Response matrix barcode on a label that can be read by smartphones.)
Families can buy their child’s art work after the exhibition with a donation of £1 to school funds.
